Frequently asked questions

Short answers on the trial and the subscription and the computers and the internet and the permissions and the Windows build.

Short answers to the questions that reach support@x4ops.com most. Each answer links to the guide with the long version.

Which computers does Clicker run on?

A Mac with macOS 14 or later on Apple silicon (M1 or later) and a PC with Windows 10 or 11 (64 bit). There is no Intel Mac build. The Windows build is new in 2.2.0 so write to support@x4ops.com if something looks wrong on your PC. The Getting started guide has the install steps for both.

Is the trial the full app?

Yes. Every feature works for 14 days from the first launch. After that Clicker still opens and your settings and macros stay. Runs and recordings and playback then need the key.

What happens after the 14 day trial?

The Start and Record and Play buttons open a dialog with Enter license and Buy a license and Cancel. Enter the key from your purchase email under Settings and then License and everything unlocks. The License and subscription guide explains the key.

Is this a subscription?

Yes. One x4ops subscription for 9.99 EUR every 6 months through Stripe. It covers Clicker and every x4ops app. The card renews by itself and you cancel at any time in your Link account. Clicker keeps working until the end of the paid period.

What do I receive after I pay?

A receipt from Stripe and a second email from x4ops at support@x4ops.com with your license key within minutes. Keep both. Enter the key in Clicker under Settings and then License and click Activate.

How many computers can I use it on?

One subscription is for one person on up to 3 computers that you use yourself. A Mac and a Windows PC count the same. Remove license in Settings frees the seat of a computer. A team buys one subscription per person.

What happens when I cancel or a payment fails?

Your key stays active until the end of the period you paid for. After that Clicker opens and keeps your settings and macros and the Start buttons offer Renew. A failed card payment gets 3 days before the key stops.

What happens when the subscription renews?

Nothing you need to do. Stripe charges the card and Clicker picks the new end date up at its next online check. The same key keeps working on the same computers.

Does my old key from 2.1 still work?

Yes. A key bought before 2.2.0 carries no end date and stays valid as a lifetime key.

Does Clicker need the internet?

Once to start the trial and once to activate a key on each computer. After that Clicker checks the key about once a day while it is online and works offline for 30 days after the last check. A computer that never reaches clicker.x4ops.com cannot start the trial or activate a key. Write to support@x4ops.com in that case.

What does Clicker send to the server?

A hash of the machine and the app version and at activation the key you typed. No name and no email and no file content leave the computer. The full list is in the License and subscription guide and on the privacy page.

Can I get a refund?

Yes. Email support@x4ops.com within 14 days of a payment with your receipt and you get that payment back. The subscription ends and the key stops working at its next daily check.

I lost my key

Write to support@x4ops.com from the address you used for the subscription and the key is sent again.

Can I use Clicker for work?

Yes. The subscription covers your own use at home and at work. You stay responsible for the terms of service of the software you automate. The full text is on the license terms page.

Why does macOS warn me on the first open?

The app is signed by x4ops and not notarized by Apple so macOS asks once per version. Open System Settings and then Privacy & Security and click Open Anyway. Or right click Clicker and choose Open.

Why does Windows say Windows protected your PC?

The Windows build is not code signed so SmartScreen asks on the first run. Click More info and then Run anyway.

Which macOS permissions does it need?

Accessibility to post clicks and keys. Input Monitoring to record and to hear the hotkeys in every app. Screen Recording for image detection. Clicker adds itself to the three lists on its first launch and you switch it on. The Getting started guide walks through it.

Why does macOS ask for the permissions again after an update?

Each download from the site carries its own signature so macOS treats a new version as a new app. Switch Clicker on once more in the three lists. Your settings and profiles and macros stay.

Does the Macro Recorder work on Windows?

Playback and the event editor and the macro library work on Windows. Recording needs macOS in this release and the Record button says so on Windows.

Why do my clicks never hit the Clicker window?

By design. Clicker skips every click that would land on one of its own windows so a run can never click its own Start button. Three skipped clicks in a row stop the run with the Clicks blocked message. Switch on Hide Clicker while it runs.

Can I move a profile or a macro to another computer?

Yes. File and then Show Clicker Files opens the folder with profiles and macros. Copy the file over and use File and then Import Profile File or Import Macro File on the other computer. Macros store absolute screen points so the screen layout should match.

Where is the log?

~/.config/clicker/clicker.log on macOS and C:\Users\you\.config\clicker\clicker.log on Windows. The Troubleshooting guide explains how to send a report.
